Daniel Waldman is a partner in the litigation group at Dickinson Wright LLP. He practices complex commercial litigation with an emphasis on real estate disputes. Daniel represents a range of clients including developers, commercial landlords, REITs and international construction companies. His notable milestones include:Successfully represented a large commercial landlord before the Ontario Court of Appeal in the termination of a multi-million lease for GoodLife Fitness;Represented multiple defendants in a precedent-setting summary judgment decision for the successful dismissal of a $37 million claim pertaining to a series of complex real estate transactions; andRepresented multiple financial institutions in hundreds of complex mortgage enforcement proceedings before the Superior Court of Justice and the Court of Appeal, including the Bank of Nova Scotia, CIBC Mortgages Inc, First National Financial Corporation, Deutsche Bank AG and Street Capital Financial Corporation.Daniel is an active member of the Advocates Society and the Ontario Bar Association. He is also a regular speaker at legal conferences for the International Council of Shopping Centres, where is provides strategic legal advice commercial property owners. Prior to embarking on his legal career, Daniel worked as a journalist for different media outlets including the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in London, England and the Associated Press in Jerusalem, Israel.
