   Leading a team conducting in-house and contracted research for the development and application of advanced materials systems including high temperature materials systems or polymer-based material systems such as polymer matrix composites.Conducts, analyzes and reports the results of experimental programs characterizing advanced materials systems such as the high temperature behavior of ceramic matrix composites or the environmental durability of polymer matrix composites such as plastics, adhesives, elastomers, coatings, and fibers.Conducts research involving nonmetallic, inorganic materials generally requiring high temperatures for processing such as ceramics, crystalline materials, and glass products or the characterization of polymer material systems and their susceptibility under various loads and environmental conditions as well as exposure to liquids including fuels, energetics, solvents, and hydraulics.Works with properties of advanced temperature materials that are compatible with advanced propulsion systems involving modern flight regimes.Manages significant elements or phases of research projects by coordinating cost and schedule while managing the work of subordinate and matrixed resources engaged in the research.
