I am responsible for coordinating WMATA\'s compliance with federal, state, and local historic preservation laws and regulations and supporting the identification, documentation, planning, and registration activities as required to facilitate WMATA construction activities. Activities are carried out in accordance with the National Historic Preservation Act and the associated regulations, standards, and guidelines established by the U.S. Department of the Interior and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation. I support project managers across WMATA, the WMATA Director of Architecture, and Consultants. Responsibilities include facilitation of reviews, project coordination, and gaining regulatory approvals by governmental agencies. I conduct architectural field research, prepare reports, develop strategy for designation of historic elements, and coordinate with State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPO), Commission of Fine Arts (CFA), and other involved authorities.Responsibilities include:Coordination of overall strategy to guide WMATA\'s historic preservation activities.Conducting field research and studies of WMATA systems and preparing comprehensive analysis and reports for historic designation.Facilitation of meetings with SHPOs to coordinate and plan the historic designation review process and construction projects.Investigation and analysis on the outcome of meetings and preparation of recommendations/plans of action to minimize the impact on WMATA.Responding to all correspondence and documentation related to historic preservation issues, focusing on WMATA\'s operational needs and maintaining uninterrupted service for WMATA customers.Providing expert advice, guidance, and consultation to WMATA Senior Management regarding all matters concerning historic preservation.Assisting the Director of Architecture & consultants with ongoing design efforts.Assisting other WMATA departments with ongoing design and construction efforts as the need arises.
