About Daniel Smith
As the Director of Emergency Radiological Planning at the US Navy, I lead the development and implementation of all-hazard emergency plans and policies, ensuring the safety of naval personnel and the public in the event of reactor, radiological, or other critical incidents. I have over 25 years of experience in engineering management and development of people. I previously served as a General Engineer and an Engineer at KMS Solutions, LLC, where I provided engineering expertise and leadership for electrical and propulsion systems on in-service submarines. I am also a certified FLIR Thermography Level II and a Senior Enlisted Academy graduate, demonstrating my commitment to continuous learning and professional development. I have a strong background in project planning, emergency planning, and interagency coordination and collaboration, having managed the COMSUBRON 4 Emergency Control Center and coordinated emergency response efforts with federal, state, and local agencies. My goal is to leverage my skills and experience to enhance the safety and readiness of the community.
