About Daniel Shimberg
My current responsibilities include the design, operation and maintenance of all Information Technology and Communications for Metrocorp, a mid-sized city magazine publishing group. In my professional life that has spanned over 35 years I have worked in several different capacities.First as an environmental planner and building industry consultant; then as a traveling exhibit manager, a publications director and finally as an IT professional. Is is my belief that the fundamental techniques involved in building and software development have deep parallels. Design, conceptualization, user-requirements, performance measurement and post-use evaluation are all processes that are part of my methodological tool kit. I was intensely involved in the first wave of Solar and Wind Energy development in the US, 19••••90. In the 1980-90\'s I directed Information Centers – including the National Solar Heating Information Center for HUD and Conservation & Renewable Energy Information Center for DOE. Oversaw a staff of 65; operated a consumer information clearing house. Managed traveling exhibits and a publications group.I also worked as a Consultant/Communications Manager for Beckman, Blydenberg & Assoicates and Aeolean Kinteics, Providence, RI. I was involved in the manufacture and deployment of wind and solar energy siteing and data-logging devices. Additionally published a series of booklets for the Rhode Island Department of Energy on renewable energy.Specialties: Information Technology, Renewable Energy, Business Process Review
