ABOUT DANIEL SEGAL
Hello and welcome to my Linked In page. I am excited to announce that as of July 2024, I am the Director of Planning and Development with the Village of Mamaroneck, NY. From 20••••24, I was a Senior Community Development and Planning Specialist with the Suffolk County Department of Economic Development and Planning. As part of the Downtown and Transit Oriented Development (TOD) group, we work to implement the County Executive\'s plan \"Connect Long Island\", a regional initiative to promote long-term economic progress in Suffolk County. From 20••••20, I was part of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) at Metro-North Railroad. As the Assistant Director of Long Range Planning, I led a small team to identify, coordinate and resolve implementation issues for operational readiness / Rail Activation Plan (RAP) of both large and small scale projects, including East Side Access and Penn Station Access. Between 2004 and 2013, I worked in the private sector at AECOM (heritage firm Urbitran Associates), managing land use, zoning, transportation, environmental and other studies for various types of both private sector developments and siting of new public facilities throughout the region, including numerous affordable housing projects. During this time, I prepared and submitted hundreds of studies from inception to completion per associated city (CEQR), state (SEQRA), and federal (NEPA) regulatory approval. Before gaining that experience, from to 2004 I was a Research and Liaison Specialist in the Department of Planning and Development with the New York City Office of the President of the Borough of Queens. I helped program and direct monthly land use public hearings on a wide range of zoning, affordable housing, preservation and socio-economic projects. I also coordinated and arbitrated internal/external meetings with elected officials and community districts, while preparing and presenting recommendations and and testimony reports publication.
