About Daniel Schultz

A three-ring circus master could learn a thing or two from me. I currently orchestrate and write to fund three staff, six subcontractors and a coalition of over 400 churches, non-profits and government organizations to increase COVID vaccination in churches and give them the information they need to stay safe. We\'ve had to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and learn quickly about the health needs of the communities we serve. I\'m proud to say we\'ve helped organize nearly 300 clinics and vaccinations in three years.I do this work, and before it civic engagement on college campuses, and before that pastoring, because I love trying to build thriving, connected and well-informed communities. My career has taken many forms, but it has always had this guiding mission.To achieve that mission, I have built a very strong portfolio of skills and expertise. The most obvious is writing, but I am also an active listener and connector, a teacher, a public speaker, an analyst, administrator and project manager. I\'ve even done a bit of coding along the way!I also draw on a long record of achievements. In my current position, I have written over 100 weekly newsletters with an average open rate of about 65%. I\'ve also participated in technical writing, and drafted wholly or in part multiple grant applications. Our program won a Policy and Advocacy award from the Wisconsin Public Health association.I\'m the author of one book, dozens of magazine and newspaper articles and thousands of blog posts. I serve as a Contributing Editor at Religion Dispatches. I\'ve taught on the college level, served on boards (currently NAMI Fond Du Lac and the Immunize Wisconsin Advisory Board), earned certifications in web design and development and project management, created communications programs from scratch, and helped create an ongoing annual conference.Good writers try to stay away from clichés, but sometimes they\'re unavoidable. I really am looking for my next challenge.
