ABOUT DANIEL RICHTER

My maritime career began in 2002 with an apprenticeship as a ship’s mechanic. During this formative period, I gained valuable experience both on deck and in the engine department, providing a solid foundation for my future path at sea. After completing my apprenticeship, I continued sailing as an Able Seaman for five years before beginning my studies to become a nautical officer.At the end of 2012, I returned to sea as a Third Officer. Over the following years, I progressed through all ranks on the bridge, being promoted to Staff Captain in 2017. Throughout my more than 20 years in the cruise industry, I have served on several ship classes within the AIDA fleet – from the ARosablu, a former Princess Cruises vessel, to the Cara and Sphinx classes, and ultimately the modern Helios XL class. Since February 2022, I held the position of Second in Command on our second Helios XL vessel, AIDAcosma.In May 2025, I assumed the role of Captain on AIDAstella, taking full responsibility for the vessel, its crew, and our guests – a commitment I fulfill with passion, professionalism, and dedication.I firmly believe that success does not create happiness; happiness creates success.
