About Daniel Powell
Dr. Powell is Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, and serves as Scientific Director of Immunotherapy in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology. He has expertise in adoptive T cell immunotherapy for cancer using naturally-occuring TILs and genetically modified T cells, such as CAR T cells and TCR transduced T cells; the development of novel combinatorial approaches for immune checkpoint blockade and tumor vaccination; the creation of clinically relevant models of cancer; and the investigation and targeting of various immunosuppressive cells in the cancer microenvironment. His lab performs validation studies in support of cellular therapies and develops novel immunotherapeutic technologies and strategies for the treatment of solid cancers. This includes the creation of autologous immune system humanized PDX models for robust preclinical evaluation of proprietary IO agents. He serves on various scientific advisory board and is the current chair of the NIH\'s Cellular Immunotherapies for Cancer (CIC) Study Section.
