About Daniel May
Hi, I am Daniel May and I am a software engineer on PNC’s Data and Automation team, testing updates for the Enterprise Data Warehouse. I write SQL queries based on existing documentation to confirm that data flows as expected from the source table of data (and its accompanying joined tables) to a target table of data. When my queries detect a mismatch, I touch base with the data engineers to determine what went wrong and how to remedy the issue.Additionally, I also train new team members on how to use the automated testing software as well as veteran team members on new processes to existing automation software. I also catalog past queries for future updates on said logic, and assist the automated software development team with QA testing. My interest in computer programming started well before joining PNC, however. Through years of working retail, namely at Target, I developed a curiosity for how computer programs worked. This curiosity started due to the mobile applications I used for my job at Target. While I did find a positive experience at Target which let me develop my leadership skills, my curiosity won out. Thanks to various avenues of support, I attended Tech Elevator\'s Fall 2021 Java Coding Bootcamp.Even before Target, my major side project has been writing about the gaming industry. In late 2018 and early 2019, I started my own blog and took a Staff Writing role with the Lords of Gaming. I joined the latter in preparation for the initial launch of their website, and became an associate editor. I wrote dozens of articles on the gaming industry, worked with developer public relations teams to acquire review keys for the website, and appeared on the website’s weekly podcast, the Iron Lords Podcast.
