About Daniel Orr
As a conservation science leader, I work with internal and external partners and other conservation leaders to develop science and data products to provide solutions to real world problems. Primarily focusing on conservation issues across the western U.S. and California landscapes in particular, I practice applied science and develop relationships and partnerships to advance strategic conservation approaches, science products, analyses and syntheses to add value and help meet organizational goals.I have fifteen years of experience in ecology, natural resource monitoring and assessment. This includes multi-agency long term ecosystem monitoring, contributing to the base line community and biodiversity assessments of protected areas, habitat and populations assessments of endangered species and natural resource damage assessments. I conduct spatial and multi-scale modeling and analysis of physical and biological systems as they pertain to natural resources. I have current and past studies of avian population changes, habitat analysis and landscape changes as well as projects conducting spatial analysis and planning to inform natural resource and wildlife conservation across California landscapes. Prior to joining Audubon I was a Research Associate, Spatial Analyst and Lecturer in the College of Science at California State University, Monterey Bay and an Assistant Research Specialist in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
