Chief engineer with over 17 years’ consultancy experience, specialising in fluid systems design of pressurised water reactor nuclear plant, safety engineering and systems engineering.Alongside my technical skills I am experienced in leadership and project management of large multidisciplinary engineering design projects, business development and business strategy. I am skilled in developing and growing business from clients through a strong focus on client relationships, identifying client demands and value propositions.I’m also a Member of Parliament, sitting as a Crossbench (independent) peer in the House of Lords, as Lord Ravensdale. I focus on engineering, energy and issues affecting the Midlands region. I’m vice chair of the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology board, a member of the Lords environment and climate change select committee and chair of the Midlands Engine all party parliamentary group.
