ABOUT DANIEL MILANO
As a Senior Engineer at Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult, I apply my engineering doctorate and chartered mechanical engineer credentials to deliver innovative solutions for the floating offshore wind industry. I have over ten years of experience in numerical simulations and modelling of floating offshore wind turbines, and I am a key contributor to the Floating Offshore Wind Centre of Excellence (FOW CoE).In my previous role as a Research Engineer at EDF, I developed a numerical prototyping method for the analysis of offshore wind turbine dynamics in realistic environmental conditions, which was validated with a case study in the Mediterranean Sea and peer-reviewed at the international conference OMAE 2020. I was also involved in the design of a new floating tension-leg platform for the DTU 10MW wind turbine, and explored the effects of tendon inclination and higher order hydrodynamic loading on its dynamic behaviour. I am passionate about advancing the offshore renewable energy technology and standards, and I am a member of the BSI PEL/88 committee.
