ABOUT DANIEL MARTIN

I currently work as Aston Martin’s Head of BIW and Closures in Gaydon, previous to that I was BIW and Closures Manager and before that, a Senior Engineer of BIW & Closures within the same team. Previously I worked for TATA Motors as a Principal Engineer within TMETC (TATA Motors European Technical Center). I worked in the Underbody team of Body and Exterior, looking after engineering of Underbody BIW items, be that metal, plastic or composite materials, this included metal panel feasibility, heading design work on the Platform and detailed Engineering work. I looked after departmental presentations along with company wide presentations and open days. I worked at TATA for nearly 4 years (April 2013 - January 2017) and traveled on numerous occasions to the TATA headquarters in Pune, India where I worked closely with the CAE, manufacturing and design colleges.I graduated from OxfordBrookes gaining a 2:1 hons in motorsport and a double module in Business management. I also have over 3 year’s practical experience within the Motorsport industry; this includes F1, WTCC, BTCC and Formula Renault. My biggest achievement to date is running the 2012 BTCC championship driver Dave Newsham to 2 overall race wins, 6 podiums and pole position where I was the number 1 mechanic on the car. Through-out my engineering studies I always gained a high average in every module and pride myself on my ability to learn new skills quickly even though, throughout all of my further education I have being balancing it with work based experience, be that in the workshop/factory or at the track.Being at the start of my career and having such a extensive experience record I would relish the opportunity to run my own race team in the future!
