Network Security Policy Synchronization & Automation Project goals are to:• Improve Network Policy Rule Requests, Designs, Implementations, and Risk Ownership processes through Automation based on renewed Standards. • Identify impactful policy discrepancies between the Enterprise Cloud Based and On-Premises based firewall policies and remediate.To date, as lead PM, the project has successfully delivered:• Detailed Audit Reports (gap analysis) for following Policy Types: File host-based rules, Anti-Malware based rules, Sandbox Rules, and URL filtering (default & custom) rules.o Successfully implement network changes to close gaps• Project has successfully delivered a solution to automate implementation of agnostic network security policies (Zscaler & Palo Alto) across On-Prem and Cloud platforms. The first release will greatly reduce operational process overhead by reducing Incident Tickets from the Business when requesting an exception or unblock requests for multiple categories of URLs managed by different IDSO Teams. • Successfully deployed SSL Decryption for on-premises firewalls across all global regions. On-Premises Firewall Cleanup & Global Alignment Project• Business Value: Enhance and safeguard value by protecting the organization’s assets, reputation, and sustainability. Remain in compliance with internal audit standards for Shell’s license to operate.• Within 18 months, as Project Lead, the project successfully closed the Audit Action:o Identified Owners across the enterprise for ~6,043 Legacy Firewall Ruleso Disabled and removed from the estate ~6,094 Legacy Firewall Rules (without any major incidents)o Conducted detailed analysis to identify high-risk rules related to legacy protocols, improper network configuration. A total of 344 High Risk rules were identified, of which 332 fully remediated: 12 rules currently under remediation.
