I assist innovative companies in the protection of their most important intellectual assets. In particular, I provide strategic advice to assist life sciences clients faced with the key business risk of patent litigation, which has the potential to make or break smaller companies, and has a major impact on share price even for the largest multinationals. Clients seek me and my team out to assist them with the co-ordination of the most legally and technically complex multi-jurisdictional disputes and the running of litigation in UK, from the pre-action preparation of the case right through to first instance judgment, appeals and beyond. With the assistance of my technical background in biochemistry I am able to quickly grapple with technical details and engage with experts in their language, distilling the complexity of the subject matter into a clear strategy for clients and convincing arguments for the Courts. Some of the technical areas I have previously assisted clients on include non-invasive prenatal testing, digital PCR, real time PCR, next generation sequencing, Parkinson\'s disease, neuropathic pain, osteoporosis and a wide range of oncology and autoimmune diseases. Most recently I have developed a deep interest in the legal and scientific developments in the CRISPR field as well as precision medicine and gene and cell therapies more generally, and I regularly publish and am quoted on these subjects.
