ABOUT DANIEL LEONARD

I am a physician-scientist with a passion for therapeutic innovation. My current role as an Oncology Fellow at Dana Farber Cancer Center and MGBCC is focused on caring for patients across a spectrum of malignancies, with an emphasis on early phase clinical trial application and refinement.During residency training, I worked as a consultant at Curie.Bio where I evaluated and guided novel therapeutic programs based on my prior experience in drug discovery, clinical placement, company creation, and clinical development. I completed my MD-PhD training at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University, where I characterized the mechanism of a novel class of small molecules, termed molecular glues, functioning to re-activate a tumor suppressor (PP2A) in an array of tumor subtypes. I worked to translate these scientific discoveries into clinical realities through the generation of a Biotech Startup (RAPPTA Therapeutics), and wrote multiple successful grant proposals including an NIH F30 and HHMI Fellows Award. Following the completion of my Hematology/Oncology Fellowship training, my goal is to further advance our care of patients with cancer through the identification and therapeutic exploitation of novel proteins, pathways, and mechanisms from the bench to early clinical trial spaces.
