   I helped create an IDA program (New Century IDA) that has helped nearly 600 families purchase homes. I developed and administered a down payment assistance program which has provided soft second mortgages to over 700 households in Forsyth County. Our housing rehabilitation assistance program has helped 650 families make much needed repairs to their homes. I also helped develop and implement a $3.625 million NSP project which leveraged nearly$15 million in private funds and financed the purchase and/or construction of over 160 affordable housing units. Two of the neighborhoods under our NSP efforts won projects of the year awards from the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency in 2013. Presently our Department, with a multitude of community partners has developed the W-S/Forsyth County Asset Building Coalition. Our mission is to help low income families become more financially self sufficient by creating household wealth through the purchase of appreciating assets. Coalition agencies recently purchased a software program that allows six agencies to track the success of the families assisted by our asset building activities. The software allows us to share data, develop and track defined common metrics and to communicate with each other and our clients as well.
