ABOUT DANIEL KING

I\'m an enthusiastic Nuclear Professional with a background in Nuclear Safety, Engineering and Project Managment. Following my Chemical Engineering Degree, I\'ve spent over 20 years working with nuclear fuel and waste handling facilities, R&D Laboratories, LLW facilities, Fusion reactors and associated facilities. I can write safety cases, and also manage teams to write them, while I manage the risks and challenges associated with the work. I enjoy engaging with all of the stakeholders to develop a shared understanding of what we are trying to deliver and support the team to deliver in the most efficient way possible.I\'m currently focussed on employing ways of working that allow a few very experienced Safety Assessors to work with, and technically develop, a much larger team of graduates and junior staff. This is proving successful with a number of Site License Companies as well as rapidly developing a more mature technical capability.I\'ve been the Team Leader and Office Director in Cumbria for over ten years (apart from a two year break when I was working in Yokohama on the Horizon Project) and manage the team, the office and hit high billability figures each year. I\'m interested in the wider context of the work and enjoy delivering a variety of roles, delegating and developing team members as I go, to ensure the quality in the areas I\'m responsible for remains high.I\'m currently leading a team in developing a strategy for UK National Nuclear Engineering Standards.
