About Daniel Keller
I grew up on the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe reservation in central South Dakota. Growing up, I was incredibly connected to my culture and my family. My parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, and additional extended family continue to stress the importance of connection, and it\'s something I carry with me every day. In the fall of 2017, I graduated from the University of South Dakota, where I attained a Bachelor of Science in Media and Journalism. Following my graduation, I entered the workforce in the retail sector. Through my time working in retail, I learned invaluable lessons that I continue to carry. I learned how to better relate to each individual I encountered. I learned how to lead a time better and how to work as a team to accomplish a common goal. In July 2019, I joined the KELOLAND Media group in Sioux Falls, SD, as a part-time production assistant. While in this role, I learned what makes a news show the most dynamic to viewers. That October, I transitioned into the role of KELOLAND This Morning Producer. I was able to handle breaking news and dealt with unprecedented times with the onslaught of the COVID-19 Pandemic. In July 2020, I accepted the role of Associate Producer on KELOLAND\'s afternoon lifestyle show, KELOLAND Living. I capitalized on my role on this new show to better inform the public on things that can impact their daily lives. I have produced, written, and edited stories covering \"How to make the perfect holiday cookies\" to \"How to talk about racial inequality inequity with your children\" and even a summer-long series centered on local non-profit Levitt at the Falls.
