ABOUT DAN ASHCROFT
My professional and academic career previously focussed on the creative and cultural sectors. However, I am now fully immersed in the world of Cost Management while also exploring my passion for design and planning within the construction industry.I’m currently a QS working for a Consultancy with experience of- Establishing & maintaining great relationships with Subcontractors, Consultants & the wider project team- Administering in-house contracts & the JCT Contract suite. Also effectively monitoring contract change & ensuring compliance & best practice throughout build programme- Producing & presenting monthly project specific cost reports- Monitoring & managing cost variance across a variety of concurrent projects- Compiling and processing Subcontractor payment applications- A real focus on a collaborative approach to problem solving with the wider project team including programme performance, KPI’s and value engineering- Continually working to improve & develop in-house systems to improve performance & simplify work practice- People management including working closely with Apprentices & new members of staff to ensure a best practice approach- Negotiating final account agreements- Detailed tendering and procurement processes - Tender analysis and consideration of wider factors e.g. workload, location, qualifications, experience etc- Technical design considerations & their impact on cost & programme - Benchmarking & cost analyses across multiple trades & geographic regions - Working in depth on MMC projects such as Light Gauge Steel Frame buildings & pre-fabricated roof systems. On a personal level, I have a keen interest in energy efficient buildings, eco-housing, MMC, Passivhaus developments and working collaboratively to make buildings more efficient in the future.
