ABOUT DANIEL FUEMANA
Daniel has 27 years of teaching and management experience in the Private Training Establishment (PTE) and Tertiary Education Institution (TEI) teaching adult learners, leading applied research, developing new programmes of studies, and head of Department. Prior to taking up a role in the education sector, Daniel spent over a decade in the building and construction industry as a contractor and project manager. Daniel has extensive knowledge and experience in both education and industry. He has been involved as a technical advisor, member and supporter of the Building Officials Institute New Zealand (BOINZ), New Zealand Certified Builders (NZCB), Site Safe New Zealand, Industry Training Association Building (ITAB) Apprenticeship Training, New Zealand Institute in Building (NZIOB), Industry Training Organisations (ITOs) and Government agencies. Daniel was instrumental in the implementation of the Unitec Maori and Pacific Carpentry Scholarship initiative which has been a success within the past decade. The model was adopted by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) in 2010 as the Pacific Trade Training Initiative. The Initiative was successful and the model was extended to Maori. In 2014 the Maori and Pacific Trade Training Initiative (MPTTI) was launched nationally. His qualifications include: NZ AdvTrade Cert Carpentry, Cert High Ed, Diploma in Ministry (ACT), Diploma in Theology (BNZ), Graduate Dip High Education, Postgrad Dip Education. His professional memberships are: Member, New Zealand Certified Builders (NZCB) Member, Building Officials Institute New Zealand (BOINZ) Member of the Industry Training Association Building (ITAB) Member, New Zealand Institute of Building (NZIOB) Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP) Carpentry and Site 1
