About Daniel Carvajal
I\'ve been working on using my previous research experience with interfaces/interfacial phenomena and my knowledge of soft polymeric materials to help gain a better understanding of some of the factors affecting the performance of current and new release liner chemistries for 3M. This incudes work on fundamentals of release and developing new release liner chemistries. My work has mainly focused on providing release solutions for some of the most challenging adhesives used at 3M. For these adhesives I have helped develop new release chemistries that are being used by a number of 3M divisions.Specialties: Amphiphiles and their effects on interfacial tension, receptor-ligand binding, oil/water interfaces, mechanical property testing with an emphasis on soft compliant polymeric materials and/or biomaterials, self-assembly, adhesive release, release liners, release materials, adhesive release materials, silicones, fluorosilicones, release testing, adhesive testing, release liner development.
Experience
Advanced Research Specialist
Dec 2019 — Present
I will continue to work on R&D of adhesive release layers for 3M (Corporate Research Materials Laboratory [CRML]\\ Pressure Sensitive Adhesives and Release Materials group [PSARM]). These release layers are a vital part to get the right performance/release for 5-6 billion dollars worth of sales in 3M products that rely on adhesives with release liners. As an Advanced Research Specialist I will continue to help 3M divisions with their release problems and develop new and improved release liner chemistries to tackle some of the most difficult release problems at 3M.
