ABOUT DANIEL C.
First-class graduate in History and Politics from the University of Cambridge, now studying an MPhil in Economic and Social History at Cambridge. I finished with a mark of 71.9, ranked 5th in my cohort, and received the David Thompson Prize for Academic Achievement.My undergraduate dissertation, ‘Nissan’s Investment in Sunderland and the Thatcher Government’s Industrial Policy’, explored the Thatcher government’s industrial strategy through a case study of my hometown, Sunderland. It received the Ellen McArthur Prize for Best Economic History Dissertation at the University of Cambridge.I received the Westall Prize for Outstanding Contribution to College Life after co-founding Homerton Politics, a student society that brought political discussion to the centre of college life. I also served as Co-Chair, Secretary, and Membership Officer of the Cambridge University Labour Club.My academic research focuses on the political economy of contemporary Britain, combining archival research with quantitative methods to understand the structural transformations of the British economy over the past fifty years.
