ABOUT DANIEL BYRD

As a Division Vice President of Graduate Medical Education (GME) at HCA Healthcare, I oversee the development, accreditation, and operations of 35 residency and fellowship programs across five hospitals in three states. I have been in this role since June 2025, after seven years of serving in other markets at the same organization.I have a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Washington, with a focus on health services and global health, and a certification from the National Board for Certification for Training Administrators of GME. I am passionate about improving the quality, safety, and equity of health care delivery through innovative and collaborative GME programs. I have extensive experience in leading and managing GME departments, such as implementing a new GME information system, securing a large GME expansion grant, and facilitating successful development of GME institutional and program accreditation. I have also fostered strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, such as hospital leaders, program directors, faculty, residents, fellows, accrediting bodies, and community partners.
