My role as Assistant Editor includes leading shifts of up to 10 reporters and creating a news list based on trending topics, relevant television and assisting the team with exclusive stories and long-read feature ideas. I also work alongside the Homepage team on potential legal issues that may require an editorial call. When needed, I also act as a reporter to assist the team if we are short-staffed. As part of my role, I have also encouraged the use of multimedia elements, whether it be live video or imagery. This is a particular strong point when conducting in-person interviews, as this allows me to create extra content to be distributed across social media platforms and boost engagement. Through my role, I also work closely with talent agents and publicists on campaigns, delivering strong exclusive content across the Mirror (digital and print) as well as the Reach magazines.
