ABOUT DANIEL BEYENE

I work at the intersection of economic sanctions, geopolitical risk, and financial regulation, a space where international law, foreign policy, and finance converge in ways that shape the global economy. Trained in economic warfare at École de Guerre Économique (MBA) and international business law at Université Paris Nanterre (Master\'s), I built my career across KPMG, PwC, and Deloitte in Europe, advising financial institutions on economic sanctions, financial crime compliance, AML/CFT frameworks, and regulatory risk across EU jurisdictions. Today, I serve as Manager, Global Economic Sanctions at RBC, Canada\'s largest bank and one of North America\'s leading financial institutions. I oversee enterprise-wide sanctions governance and produce risk intelligence for senior leadership. Beyond sanctions, my risk background spans operational risk, outsourcing and third-party risk, and resilience frameworks, with hands-on experience designing and executing RCSA methodologies across complex financial institutions. I approach risk as a strategic lens: I am a firm believer that the most consequential business decisions are made where regulatory pressure, geopolitical shifts, and operational vulnerabilities intersect.
