ABOUT DANIEL BAGHBAN
At Lloyds Banking Group, I have the incredible opportunity to work on cutting-edge cloud solutions built on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). My role involves implementing, designing, managing and maintaining scalable cloud infrastructure. The tools that I use within my work include- Java, Helm and Kubernetes for developing microservices and containerised applications to ingest and curate data- BigQuery, Cloud Spanner and Cloud Storage to store big data- Dataflow, dbt and SQL to create extract, transform and load (ETL) pipelines- Docker, Container Registry and Harbor for compiling and storing images- Terraform to automate the creation of resources using infrastructure as code- Jenkins, Spinnaker and GitHub for deploying continuous integration/continuous deployment (CICD) pipelines. In my role, I leverage Agile and Scrum methodologies to enhance development processes and deliver high-quality solutions at pace. This includes the use of JIRA to manage workloads and handle reporting.I graduated from the University of Liverpool with a Pass with Distinction in MSc Mathematical Sciences, specialising in mathematical epidemiology. I achieved 85% in my main dissertation on \"The use of edge-percolation processes in the modelling of infectious diseases\".I studied BSc Maths and Physics at the University of Manchester. The course allowed me to demonstrate my natural adept ability at mathematics and problem solving as well as my passion for mathematics and the sciences. Studying a joint honours degree developed my skills in time management, task prioritisation and engaged my drive for independent work. The fields I studied include quantum mechanics, applied nuclear physics, statistical physics, fluid mechanics, applied complex analysis and mathematical biology.I have filled in several positions of part-time work, generally in the retail sector, where I excelled in working in a team as well as independently. I have been a personal tutor since 2019, teaching at the level of GCSE, A-Level as well as some undergraduate work. My enthusiastic engagement with students has earned me 100% positive feedback after transforming failing, anxious students into confident achievers.
