ABOUT DANIEL ALESTRAND

I believe great stories fuel innovation, anyone at any age can move an industry, and that the future is in collaboration through globalised markets. My name is Daniel, a Swede who is currently studying a BA in Business & Management at Durham University. I began my education at a state-school in the UK called St John the Baptist where I eventually became Head Boy, co-leading with a team of 22 students day-to-day. Once finished, I moved to Stockholm for a year where I conducted research alongside postdoctorals on Brain-Computer Interfaces at the Stockholm School of Economics and Sweden\'s House of Innovation, presenting my findings to undergraduates, postgraduates, faculty and SSE Executive Education. Throughout my educational journey, I underwent immense professional, academic and personal development: becoming the youngest in Europe ever to present a university seminar, starting Stockholm Valley which became the no.1 publication of its kind (20k monthly circulation) in a month, and regularly liaising with VCs and Founders across Europe and North America. Despite being \"young,\" all of these opportunities came through three desires: a desire to ask questions, a desire to learn and a desire to engage. My focus is on embracing the seismic socio-economic changes of technological developments and living in a digital age. With an international upbringing, I began to notice how slow \"first-world\" countries are at embracing change, the lack of collaboration under survivalist mindsets like \"eat or get eaten,\" and the apparent preference of uniformity over originality. That\'s why today, through my journalism and work, I hope to shed light on how originality is more traditional than uniformity, that societies where all have access to unlimited education should scrap strict qualitative biases, and how the world would be a more peaceful place if sharing was the norm over secrecy. If you\'re someone who shares an interest in the aforementioned: I would love to discuss this further and exchange thoughts, regardless if you agree with my views or not. Connect with me and send a message, or email me at d•••••@stockholmvalley.com.(P.S. I reply to every message, don\'t be a stranger.)
