1) A reasonable, decent, adult, human, male who strives to be honest, caring, empathetic, and civil. When aware that he has failed at any of these, he almost always feels bad and usually seeks opportunities to improve.2) Dan tries to be careful to balance life\'s extremes and, meanwhile, occasionally makes or does stuff that appears to other humans (and possibly some other species too) as valuable, aesthetically pleasant, or generally worthwhile.
