ABOUT DANE MINNICK

I serve as the Duvall Chair of Family and Community Health and as an Assistant Professor of Social Work at the University of South Florida. My work focuses on addictions and substance use, with an emphasis on community engagement and capacity building, environmental strategies, ecological modeling, workforce development, and policy analysis and conceptual frameworks, with a strong focus on translating research into real-world practice.Previously, I have held several leadership roles including serving as Bureau Chief of Prevention for the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration\'s Division of Mental Health and Addiction, Director of the Ball State Center for Substance Use Research and Community Initiatives, and Executive Director of the Addictions Coalition of Delaware County. My scholarly work is grounded in five interconnected areas. Translational Research -Designing and evaluating strategies that move addictions research into practice and support the implementation of evidence-based interventions in community settings.Prevention and Community Intervention Programs -Developing and evaluating prevention and macro-intervention approaches aimed at reducing harms associated with both legal and illegal substance use.Ecological Modeling and Systems Evaluation -Creating and applying ecological and systems-level models to assess the effectiveness of addiction services, environmental strategies, and behavioral health interventions.Policy Analysis and Conceptual Frameworks -Developing and applying conceptual and analytical frameworks to examine policy, systems design, and structural factors shaping addiction and behavioral health services.Workforce Development and Education -Examining workforce needs in mental and behavioral health, developing training models within professional curricula, and evaluating teaching strategies and pedagogical approaches.
