I own an online vintage retail store with a warehouse open daily (by appointment only!) in Sugar Grove. We also offer real estate staging, estate sale consulting, furniture refinishing/refurbishing, residential interior decorating, remodeling/handyman and haul away services. That\'s right. Keep reading. I always enjoyed my role as an advocate for small business owners, but my evenings and weekends have always been dedicated to my passion for traveling, collecting fine art and hunting for vintage treasures. So, after 15+ years of advising businesses on how to succeed, I formally launched my own company DAN\'S GUEST ROOM LLC in January 2023. We\'re an online retailer that hosts a Virtual Showroom on Facebook Marketplace, but that which you can visit in person (by appointment only!). Today, I oversee operations for our WhereHouse located in the historic downtown business district of the rural village of Sugar Grove - just 20 minutes west of downtown Naperville, IL. We\'re tucked inside an old blacksmith shop on South Main Street next to the village\'s original fire station. The neighborhood is absolutely charming, and the streets are lined with older, well-maintained buildings. Given the nostalgic inventory we keep, we feel right at home. The warehouse is stocked with thousands of books and hundreds upon hundreds of household items. We offer for sale some truly unusual treasures, some of which belong in a museum! But mostly, we offer a wide variety of iconic pieces of home decor and quality pieces of furniture that span the decades. If you need help shopping or redefining your space at home, we offer decorating advice and design consulting services as well as referrals for remodeling work in the Chicagoland area. What lead me to this place? My background before launching my company includes years as a licensed investment banker, retail bank manager, sales coach, business banker and business development professional as well as a former award-winning journalist. I am committed to my community as a 14-year, four-term city council member and volunteer/fundraiser for various nonprofit organizations.
