About Daniel Castro

My roots are an important part of where I am today.I am the son of immigrants and grew up in East Los Angeles. There I graduated from Garfield High School where I was part of the Jaime Escalante Math & Science Program, on which the movie \"Stand and Deliver\" is based. That foundation is a key component of who I am and where I am today as the CEO and co-founder of Airluum, a platform designed to preserve the past and inspire the future. It’s important to me to know my family’s history and stories and to keep them safe and secure to pass on to my kids in the future. That’s why I teamed with college friends to develop an app that enables parents to create a multimedia collection of their family stories and to document their family tree - now our family and yours will always have a time capsule of their heritage. As part of my experience leading Airluum, I also attended the Stanford Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative, a research and education collaboration between Stanford University and the Latino Business Action Network. And while my family life and Airluum are critical parts of who I am, I’m also proud to be a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering in electrical engineering and computer science. I also graduated with a law degree from the University of California, Berkeley. With that background, I became a patent attorney and represented clients in various aspects of intellectual property with an emphasis on patent prosecution. My experience has covered a broad range of electrical and computer technologies, including wireless technologies, semiconductor fabrication equipment and processes, computer systems, software, optical networks, and components, as well as various internet-enabled/related applications.Additionally, I am a board member of Reading and Beyond a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering children and families to live productive, self-reliant lives.During my ‘spare’ time, I’m a marathon runner, and soccer coach for my son’s team.
