About Daniel Busso
I am an applied social scientist with over 17 years of research experience in industry, academia, and nonprofits. As a UX Researcher at Meta, I\'ve conducted research with users and other stakeholders (academics and regulators) and translated these insights into product, policy, and strategy recommendations. Before coming to Meta, I served as Director of Research at the FrameWorks Institute. In that role, I used methods from the social and behavioral sciences to explore how people understand complex socio-political issues and test ways to reframe them to drive social change. I led work across the FrameWorks portfolio, with a special focus on issues related to child and adolescent development and mental health. For my research on reframing aging, I was awarded the Robert L. Munroe Prize for Innovation in Research Methodology (2018) and the Mather LifeWays Innovative Research on Aging Award (2019). My research toolkit is broad. As a mixed methodologist, I draw from both qualitative and quantitative research methods, including surveys, experiments, focus groups, interviewing, usability testing, working with large datasets, and advanced statistical analysis (e.g. principal components analysis, factor analysis). For my PhD, I used magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), as well as psychophysiological measures, to study emotional and attentional responses to threat, and to explore the neurobiological correlates of mental illness. I hold a BSc in Psychology from the University of Bath, an MSc in Cognitive and Decision Sciences from University College London, and master’s and doctoral degrees in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University. For published research, see here: & hl=en
