About Dana Gibbon Alegre
Since January 2016, I have been asking and answering biological questions by analyzing next generation sequencing data, first in the Genomics core at the Stowers Institute for Medical Research and then at the Center for Quantitative Life Sciences at Oregon State University. I have collaborated with over two dozen research groups over the years.My most proud professional accomplishment is my contributions to the Oregon Health Authority\'s effort to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. I developed a Bioinformatics pipeline to determine variants in wastewater samples and currently help to monitor participating cities throughout the state of Oregon.Another project highlight was creating an R package and Shiny application to help optimize salmon spawning for a researcher. I graduated from University of Oregon\'s master\'s program in Bioinformatics and Genomics in September 2016. In May 2015 with I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Linfield University with mathematics and physics minors. While maintaining a full course load and working multiple jobs, I participated in varsity colligate athletics for all four years.
