Expanding my capacity within the Memory Keepers Medical Discovery Team (MKMDT), which is focused on collaborative research to improve dementia outcomes in Indigenous and rural communities. ABOUT DANA KETCHER

I am an applied medical anthropologist with public health training and have worked both internationally and domestically. I completed my PhD in applied bio-cultural medical anthropology May 2019, where I focused on women\'s experiences with genetic testing and counseling for hereditary cancer syndromes. I completed an NIH T32 Postdoctoral Fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center (20••••21) focusing on using qualitative and mixed methods approaches to understand the lived experience of cancer patients/family caregivers in order to improve healthcare delivery systems. Since 2021, I have worked on community-based participatory projects partnering with Indigenous and rural communities in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Ontario. We seek to understand the lived experience of Alzheimer\'s Disease and related dementias, support community-based solutions and work towards culturally meaningful and safe interventions and outcomes.Specialties: medical/cultural anthropology, community outreach and education, community-based participatory research, rural health, qualitative research
