Manages the talent acquisition process, including recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants.•Partners with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for vacancies.•Conduct onboarding, pre-employment checks including background checks and employee eligibility verifications, and data entry in the human resources information system (HRIS).•Provide hiring managers with regular weekly status updates on hiring progress and adjust the strategy as required.•Perform competitive market research to establish internal pay practices and establish pay bands that help to attract and retain top performers.•Advise managers and employees on the interpretation of human resources policies, benefit programs, collective bargaining agreements, employment legislation, corporate policies and procedures.•Administer audits, and provide support on information systems (HRIS) to ensure accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality.•Successfully implemented the transition from paper-based Human Resource documentation to a fully digital system.•Contribute to the development, implementation and promotion of The Joint Diversity in Steel Committee equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) strategy.•Assist with labour relations activities including coordinating recalls, layoffs, documenting changes in collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), and posting memos on policy changes, ensuring compliance and effective communication at EVRAZ North America.•Assist in the review of grievances, while considering relevant legislation and the collective bargaining agreement (CBA).•Create reports, analyze and present relevant metrics and insight to drive decision-making.•Support short-term and long-term disability processes, as well as WCB procedures as needed, coordinating with benefits providers.
