As a Digital Skills Trainer at Wavemaker, I deliver inclusive and impactful training that empowers adults with the confidence, tools, and real-world skills they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world.My role focuses on designing and facilitating workshops - both in-person and virtually - that cover essential topics like online safety, communication, productivity tools, and AI awareness. I create engaging content tailored to learners at various ability levels, from complete beginners to jobseekers looking to advance their digital toolkit.What I Do-Deliver workshops on digital literacy, online safety, AI tools, and digital communication-Develop accessible, real-life lesson plans and printed learning materials-Facilitate sessions across Stoke-on-Trent, including community centres and remote settings-Provide one-to-one coaching and follow-up support to address individual learning needs-Help learners build confidence using email, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Zoom, and job search toolsInnovations & Impact-Integrated AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT) into learning sessions to spark curiosity and develop 21st-century skills-Created a multi-module digital course tailored for learners with low digital confidence, increasing engagement and completion rates-Supported learners in identifying scam emails, managing passwords securely, and using comparison tools for online shopping-Collaborated with partners like JET to ensure workshops support wider community and employment goalsMy Approach: I take a supportive, patient, and flexible approach - adapting to each learner’s pace and using everyday scenarios to make digital skills feel relatable and useful. I focus on building confidence, not just competence.This role allows me to combine my passion for lifelong learning, inclusive education, and digital empowerment. Every session is a chance to help someone overcome a barrier, gain independence, or access new opportunities.
