About Dan Strohschein

Former NASA Software Engineer turned Engineering Leader. I am a successful, supportive team builder who leads with empathy, focusing on empowering my teams, mentoring growth, and instilling ownership. But who I really am is: Technology expert: I spent 25 years writing code in everything from windows apps to web apps in multiple tech stacks from Microsoft to MERN to Golang and everything in between. Whether it’s hardware, software, networking, security, or testing, I have done it all, and I love it all. I write code every day, even if it’s not part of my regular role at the office. Having several personal projects in the air at once is normal for me. Successful Leader: the only thing I love more than building computing platforms is building and leading teams of engineers. I have a deep love of Agile methodologies, a passion for mentoring, and a highly ingrained sense of teamwork that have helped me develop my leadership style. Along the way, I built a unique set of beliefs that make me a highly successful leader. I take the idea of a servant leader to a deeper, more profound level My teams are happy. I encourage each engineer to explore worlds outside of their own, to add to their toolbox, and to build themselves. When they know where they want to go, I lay out a pathway for them to get there. When they don’t, I help them find a new destination. I help them see their potential and reach it, at every step of the way. My teams grow. Both at the individual level through regular 1:1 and coaching and at the team level, where consistent introspection helps us to find the efficiency we need for each project. By focusing on the outcomes of the work, the engineers take ownership, and by empowering them to self organize, they find the right processes for them to be successful. I help them to build up best practices, perform code reviews, automate everything they can, and put a focus on quality so that their product is the best it can be.
