ABOUT DAN SCOTT

I am a triple Red Seal-certified Journeyman, licensed in Heavy Equipment, Automotive, and Truck & Transport trades, with over 30 years of hands-on experience in mechanical and technical environments. My career began in the automotive industry in 1990, where I specialized in the fuel and electrical systems of General Motors and Chrysler vehicles, earning my Automotive Red Seal in 2003, I transitioned into heavy-duty repair, taking on senior technician roles and later supporting the oil and gas sector by servicing Cummins engines and other diesel systems in demanding oilfield operations. My ability to cross over between trades has made me a versatile and highly valuable asset in every role I’ve held. From 2007 onward, I have built on my leadership abilities through various supervisory positions. I worked as Assistant Foreman for a heavy equipment shop in Kandahar, Afghanistan, under a 14-month overseas contract, and later became Shop Foreman for a railway materials handling company, overseeing repairs on everything from handheld generators to diesel-electric locomotives.Over the past five years, I’ve been the Lead Hand / Shop Foreman with WM, specializing in servicing brand-new Caterpillar and Volvo equipment. During this time, I completed advanced corporate training with Caterpillar in the United States, further sharpening my technical knowledge and leadership in fleet operations and maintenance. All of my certifications were earned through full Provincial Apprenticeship programs with formal schooling—none were grandfathered, challenged, or granted in lieu of experience.I bring a reputation for mechanical excellence, team leadership, and an unwavering commitment to safety, quality, and performance under pressure.
