CTE is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that facilitates research into advanced transportation technologies to improve air quality and achieve energy and environmental sustainability. CTE has played a pivotal role in the development and implementation of many clean, advanced transportation technologies throughout the United States. The organization has managed a portfolio of more than $3.8 billion in cost shared research, demonstration, and development projects in partnership with more than 500 businesses, universities, and government entities involved in the advanced transportation industry. These projects have included a broad range of transportation related challenges including technology development, testing, public awareness campaigns, educational programs, marketing research, and commuter behavior studies. CTE has facilitated funding for these projects from the Departments of Energy, Defense, Interior, and Transportation, as well as from the Environmental Protection Agency, and NASA.
