Daniel Pancake has spent much of the past 20 years managing nuclear deactivation and waste management projects at Argonne National Laboratory near Chicago. Dan spent years as the Technical Support Manager for Argonne’s Waste Management Department, developing and implementing innovative, compliant, and cost saving solutions for the Laboratory’s widely varied hazardous and radioactive waste streams.Mr. Pancake’s experience centers around unique & difficult waste stream management, senior client communication, Program development & implementation, expert training evolutions, and advancing the technical approach for hot cell & glovebox deactivation projects. Dan currently serves as the Remote Handled Transuranic Waste Program Manager at Argonne, and continues to support the successful Deinventory and Deactivation of the Alpha Gamma Hot Cell Facility. Dan was included as a key partner in the completion of the Nuclear Footprint Reduction Program, where he was recognized through the Secretary of Energy’s Honor Award for significant risk reduction, enhanced compliance and operational cost savings.In addition, Dan’s hot cell deactivation team was awarded the UC/Argonne LLC Board of Governor’s Outstanding Team Safety Performance Award for 2012 and 2013. Mr. Pancake is a graduate of the College of Wooster in 1991 and is a partner and executive chef at a popular Chicago area restaurant, Autre Monde.
