   Ambassador Dan Negrea serves as the Representative of the United States to the United Nations Economic and Social Council and as an Alternate Representative of the United States to the Sessions of the General Assembly.In 2025, he was a senior member of the political transition team at the Export-Import Bank of the United States. From 2021 to 2024, he was the founder and Senior Director of the Freedom and Prosperity Center at a Washington think tank.During the first Trump administration, Ambassador Negrea served at the U.S. Department of State in the Secretary’s Policy Planning Office as Senior Advisor responsible for the economic portfolio, and later as the Special Representative for Commercial and Business Affairs.Before entering government service, he spent more than three decades in leadership roles on Wall Street, working as both an investment banker and a private equity investor.At age 24, he defected from Communist Romania and sought political asylum in the United States. He holds an MBA from Cornell University and an MA from the School for International Economic Relations in Romania.Additionally, Ambassador Negrea has published books, reports, and articles on foreign affairs, and he is a member of the Order of Malta, a Catholic charitable organization.
