About Dan McCauley

Hello! My name is Dan.Before being a writer and educator living in LA, I was a boy from New York City raised by little league coaches, a caring Bronx Community, and his family’s love. As an educator, I strive to take a strength based approach with my students, finding authentic ways to address areas of need, while using relationship building and responsive pedagogy as the foundation for student empowerment and resilience.As a leader, I am interested in using experiences to broaden student interest and their capacity to lead, and using enrichment opportunities, most notably in sports and the performing arts, to empower young people and continue to cultivate gifts true to each of them. And as a writer, presenter, and speaker, I seek to share stories that, as Joseph Campbell would say, “capture the experience of being alive.” I’m so excited to be making my author debut with the picture book series,\"Thank You, World,\" this Fall with Free Spirit Publishing.My life experiences and the remarkable people I have met along the way continue to inspire the work I do. Ultimately, my goal is to help equip young people to lead meaningful lives after High School and beyond. From K-12 and adult literacy classrooms, to college residence halls and little league baseball fields, the question that continues to inform my growth and my work is: what helps young people thrive?
