ABOUT DAN MAKAVELI
I’m Dan Makaveli – a social entrepreneur, creative educator, and community builder who’s spent the last 15+ years turning ideas into projects that make a real difference.Back in 2010, I co-founded Media Savvy CIC, which started as a way to use creativity and digital media to support people facing multiple and complex barriers — and it’s grown into a multi-award-winning social enterprise. In 2024, we launched Diego’s Joint CIC, a cultural hub and sister-organisation to MS, created - in part - due to the belief that music, art, and community can bring people together in powerful ways. When I’m not running social enterprises, you’ll find me at the University of Sunderland, working as a Senior Academic. Teaching and mentoring the next generation of entrepreneurial-minded creatives is something I’m hugely passionate about — and I love helping people unlock their potential and make meaningful connections, whether in the classroom or the community. My journey hasn’t always been smooth; it’s been full of risks, resilience, and plenty of lessons learned along the way. But that’s what keeps me inspired — making connections and building spaces where creativity, learning, and social impact come together. If you’re interested in collaboration, community projects, or just sharing ideas over a coffee, or a quality craft beer, feel free to connect.
