About Dan Furlong
Turned 60 in January 2025 and exactly where I want to be - serving those who served. 🤝 I am on a mission to \"give back\" my twenty-eight years of Fortune 500 leadership experiences and mentor our transitioning service members and veterans with obtaining thriving and enjoyable careers. Let\'s talk about our transitioning service members and vetetans of our nation\'s service members transition from the armed forces to begin a new career in the civilian workplace each year. Only ~6% of our nation\'s population has served in the armed forces. This makes our veterans a uniquely talented group of professionals who can bring immense value to any organization. I mentor our transitioning service members and veterans on: Workplace Culture. Employee Engagement. Interpersonal Skills and Soft Skills. Assessing Good/Bad Hiring Managers. Labor Market Research. Creating Your Unique Brand. Resume Writing. Performance Management. Awards/Recognition Programs. Interviewing. Networking. Total Compensation Negotiations. Company Layoffs. During my corporate career I had a platform to bring awareness to PTSD, depression, and suicide which too many of our veterans experience. Think about this.~17 of our nation\'s veterans die by suicide each day. If you or someone you know is struggling please seek immediate help. The Veterans Crisis Line is staffed 24/7 at 18•••••••55 or text 838255.#giveback The views, opinions, and experiences expressed in my posts are my own.J
Experience
Dol (Department of Labor) Vets (Veterans\' Employment Training Services) Facilitator
Aug 2023 — Present
The Department of Labor (DOL), Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS) program utilizes contractor services for support of the Transition Assistance Program (TAP). This is where Serco comes in. The program and our team work to ensure Service Members and their families have the necessary career tools and information to seamlessly transition into the civilian workforce. We help Transitioning Service Members find apprenticeship and job opportunities to increase their on-the-job experience and ensure they are well-equipped to enter the civilian job market. Through the DOL TAP we conduct job assistance workshops, employment counseling, and employer outreach.
