I have spent over 38 years in the Elementary Education System in Ontario as an educator, and as an administrator. I was also fortunate enough to have lived and taught in Sydney, Australia as well.I officially retired from my position as Elementary School Principal in 2015, but I continue to do contract work relieving administrators who are on leaves from work. I have always been a dynamic and dedicated school leader. I possess exceptional interpersonal skills. I am committed to all students, staff, parents, and stakeholders in order to maximize student achievement. I believe that as an educator, it is imperative to instill within our student’s confidence, self- esteem, critical thinking skills, and encourage risk taking. I firmly believe that laughter can be empowering.My interest in hiking and photography began when I embarked on a journey of a lifetime in 2015. I hiked 800 Km across Spain, beginning in the Pyrenees Mountains in France, and ending in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. This route is best known as El Camino de Santiago. I hiked this 800 Km journey alone and I also blogged about it ).I kept going back to hike in Spain since 2015. I have hiked various routes across Spain and Portugal. I have also pursued my love of the Spanish Language and can now speak with functional fluency.My love of hiking allowed me to discover much about myself and pursue other career options. It was on this trip that I learned the true meaning of dedication and perseverance. I began to write a blog about my adventures, personal healing, and documented all of it with my photography. I recently began to organize my own hiking tours in Spain. Education occurs outside the classroom too. As a life-long learner, I have used my skill set in organizing hiking tours for others. That skill set has benefited my photography as well.My personal growth in photography, hiking, and blogging enriches my firm beliefs as an educator. I truly believe we can change the world and make it a better place for all, one person at a time.My hiking experiences have also taught me that in this modern world, we can all succeed. This begins with us all simply being kind to each other!
