   Bescia is an Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapist. He holds two board certifications recognized by the APTA as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) and a Sports Clinical Specialist (SCS) and serves as a Resident Mentor for Orthopedic and Sports Residency Programs for physical therapists pursuing board-certification. As of 2014, the ABPTS had certified only 9500 Physical Therapists with an OCS and 1400 with an SCS. The OCS and SCS board certifications are recognized for ensuring clinical excellence, expert clinical reasoning during examinations and treatment, and a current knowledge of research. A study by Childs et al in 2005 found that physical therapists with an OCS or SCS had higher levels of knowledge in managing musculoskeletal conditions than medical students/interns/residents, family practice physicians, general surgeons, physician specialists except orthopaedists, and physical therapists not board-certified.Damon has also completed the Fellowship Program in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy and is recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT). As of 2014, there have been 900 graduates from all fellowship programs combined; orthopedic manual physical therapy fellowships comprise only 22 of the 36 programs. A study by Rodeghero et al in 2015 observed that the fellowship trained group of physical therapists achieved functional changes and efficiency that were greater than physical therapists not fellowship-trained and achieved statistically greater patient outcomes.Damon teaches advanced orthopedic manual therapy techniques at continuing education courses and weekend intensives for physical therapists. He has earned credentials as a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Certified Personal Trainer (CPT).
