ABOUT DAMON MAYS
Received my Diploma of Nursing from Baptist Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1985 and later received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from American Sentinel University. After working many years as a successful Critical Care nurse in MICU, SICU, Neuro ICU, CCU, and then several years as a Critical Care Nurse Educator, I was promoted to the management arena with a focus on Staffing and Patient Flow. Currently, I am working as a Nursing Executive at a large quaternary care facility in West Tennessee with responsibility for multiple departments. Most recently, I was promoted to the role of System Executive Director with Executive oversight for the West Tennessee Healthcare Regional Transfer Center as well as the Clinical Services Department. The Clinical Services department is responsible for the acquisition and placement of all contingent staffing throughout our entire healthcare system, including seven hospitals, and multiple clinics throughout West Tennessee and several adjoining states. Working with Healthcare Staffing Agencies across the nation and internationally, the Clinical Services department maintains a contingent staffing pool of 200-300 healthcare professionals at any time. I have oversight for the centralized staffing office for our 792-bed facility flagship facility, including direct responsibility for the Director of Clinical Services. This office is responsible for oversight of all House Supervisors and Rapid Response Team staff. We also manage an internal resource float pool which consists of approximately 100 Registered Nurses and LPNs and a sitter pool of approximately 30 sitters. I am also directly responsible for the implementation of our new West Tennessee Healthcare Regional Transfer Center, which serves as a single source of entry for patients into our system. The Transfer Center nurses coordinate all patient bed placement as well as patient moves throughout our entire system. The Transfer Center RN\'s work to coordinate any transfers to outside facilities as well. I have direct responsibility for the Director of the Transfer Center and oversight of all Transfer Center operations. I currently serve as President of the Alumni Board of Directors for my Alma Mater, Baptist Health Sciences University, and am very active with the University.
