ABOUT DAMARRA UNDERWOOD
DaMarra Underwood is currently the Birth to Five Manager for Allegheny County Department of Children Initiatives and enjoys serving the community by ensuring that children and families have equitable access to resources and opportunities. In addition to DaMarra\'s commitment to her community, she has an extensive background in the arts and enjoys singing for various churches and community events. DaMarra has been seen performing for Former President and First Lady Obama as well as Governor Tom Wolf just to name a few. DaMarra graduated in December of 2016 with her Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Sports, Arts, and Entertainment Management from Point Park University where she held a 3.85 GPA. She has also received her bachelors in Music Education from Howard University where she received many accolades and honors. In addition, DaMarra has served the Pittsburgh community in various facets. Through her service, she has been a Teacher, Caseworker, Kinship Navigator, Family Coordinator, and Supervisor. DaMarra believes that all children and families can thrive if provided the proper resources and support to foster the social, emotional, and cognitive skills needed to succeed in order to aid in self-sufficiency. Prior to joining the county, DaMarra served as the Family Engagement Services Supervisor and Team Lead for the Hill District Early Literacy Initiative at Macedonia Family and Community Enrichment Center (FACE). DaMarra focused on leading a community-led initiative to aid in children being proficient in reading by grade three. DaMarra also assisted over 150 families who were in crisis by providing linkages to resources, budgeting support, and help in creating sustainability plans. DaMarra has been able to develop strategies to effectively manage events decreasing confusion and increasing organization and effectiveness, ultimately providing a lasting impression for the audience being served. She is acclimated to working in a very fast-paced, constantly changing environment and has a very strong ability to adapt to situations as per necessary.
